Would you like to help out the TSA canine team at Hobby or George Bush International Airport? Well, here's your chance...

The TSA Passenger Screening Canine Program is asking for volunteers to serve as decoys to help train the pups who are an important line of defense against terrorists, smugglers or other bad folks that are possibly traveling through the airports on any given day.

They are looking for ANY and ALL volunteers. That means families, couples, men, women, etc.. It also doesn't matter if you're old or young, big or small, athletic or disabled. Even pregnant women can volunteer...That just adds another element of normalcy to their training. Emoticon

It's also a great way to see the airport if you've never done so.

Please check out the specifics below!

[They have this program at Hobby and IAH. Just let them know which one.]

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) constantly evaluates screening procedures in order to stay ahead of evolving threats. As one of the TSA's many layers of security, the Passenger Screening Canine Program is no exception to the rule. In order to ensure their canines are always prepared for real time threats, the TSA continuously trains and tests the canines' abilities.

In support of this training, the Transportation Security Administration at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) is in need of volunteer decoys. Volunteers will serve as mock traveling passengers and assist in creating training scenarios that most resemble an everyday traveling environment. Your role will be to carry a training aid through any area where our canines are screening. The TSA canines are classified as passive response canines, meaning their actions are passively controlled and non-aggressive.

Training is conducted at George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Parking is provided at the airport Limousine Lot located near Terminal A with free on-site parking provided at the terminal where direct training will be taking place. You will be provided a parking decal.

In order to participate in this activity, volunteers will complete an on-site Passenger Screening Canine Decoy Safety Briefing Consent form as well as read and sign an OperationalTesting SSI Non-Disclosure Acknowledgment form.

Decoys are needed on an on-going basis, and volunteers can be added to a roster rotating as often as every forty-five days. Volunteers should plan to dedicate at least 4-5 hours for the training, with time slots starting as early as 4:30 a.m.. and running as late as 7:00 p.m.. Times are flexible and based on your availability.

If you are interested, please contact the Canine Program Assistants via email at [email protected] . You can directly call Mayra Rosas at 936-224-2751 or Sebrina Lopez at 832-840-9935.

A list of available training dates will be provided. Once your date and time slot has been confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email detailing the final information including parking information and dress attire for your on-site visit.

The TSA Canine Program greatly appreciates the volunteers' support as they are vital to the success of the canines!
