It's blackberry-picking season again, which is one of my favorite times of year, so we headed over to
Blakelock's Berry Farm over the weekend to check out this year's crop.
For those of you not familiar with Blakelock's, it's a berry farm between here and Conroe (actually in Grangerland). They offer a thornless, pick-your-own experience that'll run you a mere $3.50/lb for your haul. They also provide the containers for you for FREE.
There were several other people at the farm getting their berry fix as well...Including the ninja-like, pint-sized quick-pickers pictured below...I think they were pros.
They were filling containers left and right, and even helped me with a couple of mine.
fellas!
Blakelock's also has blueberries available this year for the first time, but that season is starting to taper off so get some while you can. That'll also save some more blackberries for us....We're making another trip out there this weekend.
Blakelock's Berries is located at 15761 FM-3083. They are open Wednesday - Sunday, 8AM - 6PM, form now until approximately the end of June.

Just a reminder when you come: You're in the country, so don't forget your comfortable shoe/boots and some bug spray.
