A Porter woman was killed after a tree came down on her home while she was napping.
On August 28, 2017, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a welfare check at 17400 block of Louis Lane in Porter. Deputies were advised that a tree had fallen on a residence at this address and an elderly female could be hurt or trapped inside. Deputies arrived on Louis Lane, but had to walk through flood water to make it to the address. Deputies arrived at the address and observed a large oak tree had fallen over onto the trailer at the address. It appears the tree fell, due to the large amount of rain saturation from Hurricane Harvey.
Deputies met with the elderly homeowner who advised that he was sitting in the residence when the tree fell on his home. The homeowner screamed for his wife, who went to the bedroom to go take a nap. The elderly male was unable to get to her or get her to respond so he left to get help.
Deputies located Lisa Jones, 60 year old female from Porter, deceased in the bedroom of the trailer. Based on the investigation, it appears Lisa was killed when the tree fell on her while asleep in the bedroom of the trailer.
Members of the Porter Fire Department arrived on scene and assisted in removing the tree from the residence.
Our thoughts and prayers are with miss Jones' husband, family and friends.
