Wild Day At The Porter Kroger
Just after 10:40 am this morning (2/23/17), Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 23611 U.S. Highway 59 (Porter) in reference to an aggravated robbery. According to the 911 caller, 3 black male suspects entered the Kroger Grocery Store dressed in hoodies with one of the suspects carrying a firearm. During the robbery, the male with the firearm discharged one round into a wall, just above an employee’s head. The suspects took an undetermined amount of money and exited the store.
Unbeknownst to the suspects, the Houston Police Department was conducting surveillance on the suspects believing they were possibly involved in other Kroger Store robberies in Harris County, Texas. Houston Police Department officers observed the males running from the store and witnessed them enter a silver Nissan passenger car before fleeing the scene. Believing an aggravated robbery had just occurred, the undercover officers followed the suspect vehicle while awaiting the arrival of marked patrol and uniformed officers.
Houston Police Department marked units were able to catch up to the undercover officers and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The suspects refused to pull over for the marked police units and a short pursuit ensued. Eventually the suspect vehicle stopped in the area of Ranchview Trail and Rankin Road, at which time one of the suspects evaded on foot. The Houston Police Department gave chase and a K-9 was deployed. During the arrest of the suspect that evaded on foot, a Houston Police Officer and a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper were bit by the Police K-9. The suspect was placed under arrest without further incident and without injury.
All four suspects were positively identified and are 16 years of age. The suspects were brought back to Montgomery County and are facing charges for Aggravated Robbery.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is working with the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff’s Office to determine if these suspects are involved in the other aggravated robberies that occurred in Harris County.
Anyone with additional information regarding this crime, is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 936-760-5800 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-STOP (7867).
